Thailand Blog :: Rasayana

Ahh I'm sat on my top bunk bed (seriously I believe that I am too old for this at 28 I'm scared of falling and seriously damaging something on the hard tiled floor...plus if you saw my status about breaking things you'll know why I'd rather play it safe and sleep on the bottom bunk) and I am happy that I've had 2 trips to Rasayana today.

If you've known or followed me for a while you may already know that I love Rasayana raw food restaurant in Bangkok. They prepare the best raw foods with a Thai touch that no one could replicate. I spent a lot of time going to various restaurants in Bali, but Rasayana stands out and wins my heart everytime.

My favourite dish to date are the cabbage spring rolls. Filled with an almond nut paste and topped with an amazing sauce, the flavours tantalise my taste buds so much it feels like my mouth is dancing with pleasure! I had to eat this dish, there was no question about it.

During my last few days in Sabah I went through the Rasayana menu and wrote down everything I wanted to try so I ended up getting the shitake sandwich and that was amazing! Impossible to eat with the fingers, I ended up eating most of the salad and then picking up parts of the bread when it was more manageable. Fantastic flavours and I love the sauces so much.

I bought some apple energy bars whilst I was at the till and they didn't last long in my bag... I ate them on the walk to Terminal 21 shopping mall. They were soooooooooooooo tasty, I will be getting then again.

Brunch : spring rolls, shitake sandwich and apple energy bars

Then when I returned just before 5pm I had the pasta compane, which was a creamy zucchini spaghetti with cashew cream sauce. This is another of my favourites, so delicious and after every meal I have wanted to lick the plate!

I have never had dessert at Rasayana before so I wanted to try them. Considering how good some of the cakes were in Bali, I figured this place would exceed at cakes too and yes, it exceeded all expectations. My cheeks tingled, my tongue danced and my head was in a state of disbelief that this cake was made from 100% raw plant foods. Wow. (I'm not pedantic regarding cashews)
I honestly believe I am Rasayana's number 1 fan... I love everything except the mosquitos. I would move to Thailand just to have this as my regular go to restaurant.

You must visit one day, I highly recommend it to everyone.

Check out my latest video, day 1 in Thailand at Rasayana :)

Bali Blog :: Taksu Spa

I am sat in the restaurant of Taksu Spa and the views are just incredible! The trees are so tall they cover the sky, they're all so green I feel like I'm in a jungle and there's running water both inside (a stone wall waterfall) and outside (the river). I am so relaxed here and it feels so right.

I just had the raw lasagne and wow it was both a masterpiece and an incredibly tasty dish. I actually took the time to savour this dish, chewing slowly, closing my eyes and just tasting all of the flavours. My mouth is covered in the remains and I do not want to wash it down with anything. I really wanted to grab the plate and lick it, but Taksu is slightly more up market so I just used my finger to get the remaining sauce instead!

I can see avocados on a tree that must be over 30 feet tall. I don't know how they harvest them, but I assume in a storm you'd want to be wearing a helmet to avoid being smashed in the head with one! Just looking at the tree is causing me to smile uncontrollably and then I almost had a laughing fit. This place just brings out that inner joy within me. I am so glad I came here tonight. My instinct was right :)

I actually ordered a second meal, zucchini pasta with marinara sauce and this tastes just as incredible. The flavours are strong and I can tell there's olives in the dressing (something I'm not a fan of, but in this sauce it is OK). I am trying to go slow but Italian food has always been my favourite so I usually inhale it!

Tasty Tuesday - beet greens

Good day to you all, I hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday. I know for some this is the worst day of the week but if you think that way it will always be that!! :-)

Today I want to rave about the greens you get at the top of beetroot. I remember when I was first introduced to the large savoy spinach leaves, they tasted so salty and so juicy I was happy too because it was a leafy green that tasted good (unlike normal lettuce, which sometimes I find bland and often bitter). However, the spinach was sprayed with pesticides and I got a slight odor from eating them so that love affair was short lived. I definitely still recommend trying them though, just not eating it every day.

The beet greens are even better than spinach because first of all it has a pink stem (yay for pink food) and secondly because it is practically free with your purchase of beetroot!!

Packed with calcium, iron, sodium and vitamin A this green is great for your salads. It adds colour and flavour so it is win win all round. Eat it whole, chop it up or blend into a soup, you have options for days!

Unfortunately I don't have anymore now, so it's back to bland lettuce for now!

If you would like help transitioning to a raw food lifestyle I am happy to help, send me a message or comment below.

Wishful Wednesday

Party

Today I wish for a party.

Before I depart I'd love to get together with my friends and family and have a good party. I want it to involve games, dancing, raw food goodies, laughter, chatter, hugs, memories and love.

I really hope my new raw friends will attend along with my family, so they can see how us fruity people eat (or in most cases devour) our raw fruits and veggies.

I imagine it to be a sunny day so we can chill outside and relax in the sun. I'd love to make it a tropical theme and decorate accordingly.

I hope you can join my party. RSVP now on Facebook or comment on this post.

Make it Monday

Frickin' sweet lookin' raw pizza

This recipe is super easy, but it's not very quick. When I watched the video on the weekend I was salivating. This is one of the reasons why I would invest in a dehydrator, but right now it's something that I am going to have to dream about...

The only downside to the video is the amount of plugging he does for retreats and other people's pages. If you know how to make courgette noodles you can skip about 3 minutes!

It is worth the watch even if you don't intend to make it because it shows how simple it is to be creative in the kitchen with raw food recipes (even if you have to spend money on a dehydrator!)

This is the result...

...I am drooling all over the keyboard! If you have a dehydrator then please let me borrow it! Alternatively I'll come to your house and make a few to share :)

Soulful Sunday

This week was the first of many being unemployed and this is what I did.

Started the week with a spring clean. My aim is to declutter and get rid of most of my things. By the end of it I want only 2 cardboard boxes of possessions and the bag I take with me travelling.

Cleansed my colon. I did a 3 day juice cleans that involved prune juice, distilled water, fresh apple juice and olive oil. Plus a lot of rest! I basically read and watched tv/films for 3 days on the sofa. I consumed 96 juiced apples, 18 tsp olive oil, 2 litres of prune juice and lots of distilled water.

Check it out here.

Cut my hair. I made a post about it yesterday.

Sunbathed. For the first time this year! It was such a beautiful day today and I made the most of it by putting my picnic blanket on the grass and laying in the rays.

I made friends with a cat, spider, ant and lady-bird today!

Nourished my cells with lush raw food. Lots of ripe bananas, berries, dates, spinach and salad. Yum.

My plans for the coming week are to go food shopping and get stuck into TEFL, complete the 7 projects I have left and then revise for the final test. Then I can truly get my teeth stuck into prepping for Thailand/Australia/NZ!!

I really hope that the weather is good this week so I can spend time outdoors whilst on my breaks from studying!

I also want to keep having early nights, getting plenty of sleep and making sure I feel my best.
