What I'm doing Wednesday

3 day colon cleanse

I started another colon cleanse yesterday, my last one being in March. I follow this plan, highly recommended by Steven and myself.

It starts with a pint of prune juice followed by half a pint of juice (apple, carrot, etc) and water every alternate half hour. For example, say you start at 8am with prune juice, you follow with apple juice at 8.30am and then water at 9am. It is recommended that you take 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil too, 3 times a day.

What should happen is that after 2-3 hours you start evacuating your previous days consumption and then eventually the rest of the contents of the colon. Eventually after your first visit to the toilet, which is normally very loose stools, it should become a liquid that you evacuate and this is a constant process so you will need to be resting all day and close to a toilet! The prune juice is supposed to pull the toxins from your system, which is why you do it every morning.

Unfortunately this process is not as quick as going for a colonic, however I do believe this method to be the best way as it avoids unnecessary stress and potential damage to the body. The poop shoot is a one way zone, it's best to keep it that way!

I was considering going for a colonic, but this is by far the most natural way, despite the perceived inconvenience. It is a great way to get some rest, let the body clean itself out and spend three days in your pyjamas catching up on your favourite TV, movies or books!

If you choose to do this, it is very important that you will make a commitment to a raw food lifestyle. This is ultimately the best diet and I believe that we are naturally fruit and plant eaters.

My top tips for doing this colon cleanse

  1. Prepare your/buy a juicer (I have a standard juicer, but I'd prefer a slow juicer)
  2. Prepare your/buy a distiller
  3. Stock up on toilet roll
  4. Get some extra virgin olive oil
  5. Get a muslin cloth to filter the juice
  6. Buy your prune juice from the shop - we use Asda's own brand
  7. Go to the wholesale market and buy a box of apples (96 apples at least)
  8. Make the juice the night before for the following day
  9. Filter it until once or twice
  10. Get a pint glass and a half pint glass and some bottles to store the juice/water
  11. Prepare your TV, films, books, etc
  12. Have a bath every night
I have lost 3lbs in the first day and that is likely to be all of the shit (literally) that was in me. Following on from the 3 days I will be juicing for another 10-14 days.

What I hope to gain from this and am seeing results of already
  1. Clear skin - no more spots
  2. Soft and smoother skin - it's already there, but I imagine it could be like silk
  3. Weight loss
  4. Improved body odor
  5. Mental clarity
  6. Increase in energy
  7. Better understanding of my body
If you want to experience any of the above then I suggest you do this cleanse and transition to a raw food lifestyle.

For more information just ask me. I shall post an update at the end of my juicing and let you know the results.

Distiller update 3

So I did an experiment with Evian water and these are the results.

As you can see there is no yellow liquid or lumpy scum, just white chalky residue, which is obvious the minerals in the water. A good sign in comparison to tap water.

I did have some Eden Falls going, but I think I removed the lid too early after it had finished it's cycle because all that was left was clear water and no residue! I am going to try again and then I will post my results.

So on the basis of the photos above, mineral water is a lot better than tap water, but there's still a debate about the gfloride content.

The next post I promise to show the distilled Eden Falls and I will distill distilled water!

Distiller update 2

Last week I posted some photos of the scum that the tap water in my dad's house left in the distiller. This week I am posting the photos from my experiment of distilling the filtered water from where I used to work.

So these photos are the water from last week, quite disgusting...

You would imagine that the filtered water would look better...

To a certain degree the water is a little better, there is no lumpy white stuff :P but there's still a lot of scum.

I have not tried any other waters out yet. I was told the best water to drink is Eden Falls from ASDA, so I will distill that to see how much scum is left from that. I showed my (now ex) colleague about my experiment and he asked me if I've ever distilled distilled water...so that will be another experiment. I was going to try distilling filtered tap water from the house, but I don't have a filter and I don't plan on buying one just for the experiment, so if you have one and can filter 5 litres and pass it onto me then that would be fabulous :)

I hope you've liked my update on the distiller, if there's anything you want to know then post a comment.

Try it Tuesday - update

Distiller update

Today I want to post some photos of my distiller and let you know what's been happening with it.

I got it last week, cleaned it out and set it on a cycle. The instructions said the first 2 litres should not be drank, so I didn't drink it. The second batch should have been OK, but it had a weird musty taste. I used that to wash my fruit and veg with. The third batch also tasted musty, so again I didn't drink it.

I was losing hope and thought that it might be because I bought the plastic container and not the glass container. Thankfully Steven was able to help me. It turns out that I should have soaked the carbon filters overnight and instead of using one I should use two. I think it had about 4 or 5 cycles before the water started to taste normal.

During these cycles the scum on the bottom was just disgusting. I cannot believe that we drink it unknowingly and willingly!

Here are some of the pics

How disgusting are these!

I am doing an experiment tonight. I had been drinking the filtered water at my work so I want to distill it and see how it compares with water straight from the tap (the photos above are with tap water from Merseyside, you can definitely taste chemicals in it normally).

Tempted to buy a distiller now? I got mine from here with cashback from Quidco.

Currently nothing to report health wise. I have only been drinking it for the last 2-3 days.

Try drinking distilled water

So, as part of my wonderful time spent getting back on raw I was drinking distilled water. There is a lot of flack on the internet about how bad it is for you, but after trying it out and reading more information I bought myself a distiller.

It really does taste different. It removes all of the chemicals that our water is filled with. We should be getting the minerals from we eat, not what we drink.

Part of the reason why I bought one is because I really dislike buying so many bottles of water and then putting them in the recycling bin. Also, I do not like drinking tap water because it is filled with chemicals and the water to my house tastes like chemicals.

I recommend you try it. Taste the difference.

I shall post an update when I receive it and have used it for a while.

Love
